Louis A. Recano
Chief Executive Officer

Louis Recano is the co-founder of Donlin, Recano & Company, Inc. With a vision to excel at helping companies through the challenging Chapter 11 process, Lou founded the firm with Carole Donlin in 1989. He has spearheaded the company’s strategic and business advancement initiatives through the years, ensuring delivery of the company’s core principles of outstanding value and customer support.

Lou has worked with a long list of clients, and has assisted in claims management and resolution for some of the biggest bankruptcy cases in U.S. history, including Pan American World Airways, Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, Allegheny Health, US Airways, Loews Cineplex Entertainment, and Federated Department Stores. He has expanded the company’s client roster to include an impressive list of more than 200 clients across a broad range of industries and business sectors.

A well-respected member of the turnaround community, Lou earned a master’s degree in finance from New York University and is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Colleen A. McCormick
Chief Operating Officer

Since joining the company in 1990, Colleen has worked to develop higher industry standards and benchmarks and has played a leading role in the design and development of Donlin Recano’s unparalleled systems, products and services.

One of Colleen’s strengths lies in her ability to manage the claims process through a minefield of problems, acting as the front line of defense against errors that can and often do occur in this critical area. Colleen has an uncanny ability to see an issue before it happens, stop it before it becomes a problem, and ensure the correct result. This level of quality control makes Colleen one of the most respected professionals in her field. She is known for her vision, foresight and management skills in what is considered one of the most important parts of the bankruptcy administration services process.

Colleen is no stranger to the turnaround world, having started her career working hand in hand with the CFO of the Ritz Carlton Hotels in New York and Washington as well as the Whitehall and Tremont Hotels in Chicago during their restructuring efforts. It was at this time that Colleen’s attention to detail and quality issues emerged as defining attributes–which she has carried forward in the building of successful cutting-edge systems for Donlin Recano. Colleen has worked on some of the largest and most challenging corporate bankruptcy cases filed in recent years, including Fruit of the Loom, Levitz Furniture, Planet Hollywood and Agway, Inc. Colleen holds a bachelor of science degree and a master’s degree in professional studies from Cornell University.

Scott Y. Stuart, Esq.
Partner

Scott Y. Stuart, a respected member of the bankruptcy community for nearly two decades, is responsible for leading new business development and strategic marketing efforts for Donlin Recano.

Scott has worked to emphasize the uniqueness of Donlin Recano’s ability to customize its product on a case-by-case basis, offering a specialized customer service team for each aspect of the bankruptcy management process, competitive pricing, and new systems aimed at ensuring information accuracy, public accessibility, and compliance with changing laws and local protocols.

Scott’s background includes extensive public and private-sector experience, including the Office of the United States Trustee for the Eastern District of New York, department chair of Rivkin Radler’s insolvency department, and general counsel to TruFoods Systems, Inc., a company built on acquiring distressed companies in the fast-food sector.

Scott is a contributor to law and bankruptcy trades and has been named an "industry mover" in such publications as the Daily Bankruptcy Review.

He earned his B.A. degree with academic honors from the State University of New York at Binghamton, holds a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, and is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.

Andrew P. Logan, Esq.
Managing Director, Client Services

Andrew P. Logan is responsible for the management of client processes at the preliminary and filing stages of cases, and oversees the integration of critical information into Donlin Recano’s systems to ensure flawless case execution.

Since joining Donlin Recano, Andrew continuously strives to perfect lawyer-to-lawyer relationships and is the primary client liaison on all legal matters.

Andrew’s attention to detail, understanding of the law as well as the applications necessary to address case management issues, has aided in the smooth and efficient administration of cases such as the Blue Bird Bus Company, a pre-packaged case which confirmed within days of its filling, as well more recent high profile efforts in the M. Fabrikant & Sons, Inc., Complete Retreats and Anvil Knitwear cases.

Andrew comes to Donlin Recano with a wealth of knowledge in the bankruptcy arena, first as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert Krechevsky in the District of Connecticut, and then affiliated with the well-regarded insolvency departments at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky and Walker LLP; and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton, & Garrison LLP, representing debtors and creditors in complex Chapter 11 cases.

Andrew is a graduate of The College of William & Mary, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in international relations. He received his J.D., cum laude, from St. John’s University School of Law and is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Gus G. Ortega
Chief Technology Officer

Gus Ortega oversees the design and implementation of Donlin Recano’s information systems and information technology, which are continually enhanced to perform at industry-leading standards. Donlin Recano is in the forefront of the AJAX development wave, a technology that has only recently entered mainstream applications. Gus’s identification of this cutting edge technology acts as the basis for Donlin Recano’s web applications and powerful proprietary data warehouses. AJAX now serves as the new foundation for our internal management information needs.

Prior to joining Donlin Recano, Gus was lead technological systems developer at Gemini Consulting, which eventually became Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, located at its world headquarters in Morristown, New Jersey. Gus worked directly with the company’s CFO in developing applications that were deployed both internally and on clients’ locations. These applications covered a wide array of evolving information technologies. Gus was responsible for strategic development of accurate, streamlined and targeted application systems to support the wide variety of information demands that different industry sectors placed on the consulting practice. Today, Gus is focused on applying strategic insight to ensure Donlin Recano’s Internet Client/Server systems are at the forefront of the industry.

Gus attended Newark College of Engineering in New Jersey (NJIT) and the University of Cuenca in Ecuador, South America.

Ronald D. Howard
Managing Director, Balloting and Distribution

Ronald Howard is responsible for analyzing, planning, and implementing solicitation and distribution systems for Donlin Recano’s international client base. He leads a team of analysts to effect the accurate execution of these critical tasks in all cases.

Ron’s experience in effective solicitation and distribution management has spanned multiple disciplines as the industry has evolved. This has allowed Donlin Recano’s clients to benefit from his consultation, which draws upon the unique perspective of a professional with a background in systems development and extensive knowledge of the procedural requirements necessary to oversee and certify balloting procedures. Ron’s intimate knowledge of banking and security issues is likewise critical to the distribution process.

Ron has worked on a number of cases both in and out of the United States, including Core Comm New York, The Penn Traffic Company, Loews Cineplex Entertainment, Horizon Natural Resources, Vital Basics and High Voltage Engineering, Federal-Mogul in the United Kingdom, and Navigator Gas on the Isle of Man.

Ron earned his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Elizabeth R. Ellison
Director, Marketing and Communications

Elizabeth Ellison is responsible for coordinating the development and strategic implementation of Donlin Recano's marketing and client relations efforts. She is part of a team that is constantly assuring that the company's approach to customer service and high standards of quality are imparted on clients, case professionals and other industry leaders.

Liz has a long and involved history in the marketing and strategic business development sector of the financial services and turnaround communities. Having learned the importance of clear messaging about technology and product offerings from her experience in marketing and product development with The Reserve Fund and then HSBC, her skills were easily transferred to Donlin Recano's unique approach to customer care when she was called upon to spearhead campaigns which continue to raise the awareness of Donlin Recano's growth in the marketplace through technological advancement. Liz's efforts have been further enhanced by her hands on work with some of Donlin Recano's most important clients including Fruit of the Loom, Planet Hollywood and Loews Cineplex Entertainment.

Liz is Co-Chair Emeritus for the New York chapter of the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation and is a member of the Rusk Institute for Rehabilitation Business Advisory Committee.

Carole G. Donlin
Co-Founder

Carole Donlin, the co-founder of Donlin, Recano & Company, Inc., is responsible for the development of the company's initial strategic marketing initiatives and the establishment and growth of its balloting and distribution segments. During her active tenure, she expanded the industry's knowledge of broker/nominee balloting techniques and procedures. Carole also oversaw the balloting of more than a million creditors and security holders and the distribution of over a billion dollars in cash and securities. Currently, she advises the company on all aspects of its marketing, business development and strategic planning activities.
